Place Claim and Verification Policy
Effective date: 17 October 2026
Owners and authorized managers of a business or institution listed in Shalom can claim it to manage its listing and receive a "Verified" badge.
Who can claim
- The owner or co-owner of the business or institution.
- A manager, rabbi, gabbai, director or employee authorized in writing to act for it.
What you must provide
- Your full name, phone number and email address.
- Your role and relationship to the place.
- Proof such as: a business registration or license, a utility bill or lease in the business name, a kashrut certificate naming the business, a letter on official letterhead, or a photo of you at the premises holding a signed note. You may black out information not needed for verification.
How review works
Claims are reviewed manually by our team. We may contact you or the place to confirm. We approve a claim only if we are reasonably satisfied that you are authorized, and we may reject any claim without giving reasons. Approval typically takes up to 14 days.
After approval
- You can edit the listing's contact details, hours, description, address privacy and photos.
- The listing shows a "Verified" badge. The badge confirms only that we reviewed your documents; it is not an endorsement, a guarantee or a kashrut certification.
- You are responsible for keeping the listing accurate and lawful. Kashrut information must match a valid certificate.
- Several managers can be approved for one place. Tell us when a manager leaves.
Removal
We may remove manager access or the badge at any time, including after a complaint, a change of ownership or a breach of our Terms. Submitting false documents or claiming a place you are not authorized to manage will lead to a permanent ban and may be reported to authorities.

Claim documents are visible only to you and our review team and are handled under our Privacy Policy.
